2015 Atlantic Book Awards Shortlists Announced

The Atlantic Book Awards announced their 2015 shortlists at the Halifax Public Library on April 7th during a "Writers in Conversation" discussion with Valerie Compton, Alexander MacLeod, and Ami MacKay. The awards acknowledge the best books published by Atlantic Canadian writers in several categories over the past year.

We'd like to congratulate our members and their authors who received nominations:

Breakwater Books & Trudy J. Morgan-Cole for The Sudden Sun for the APMA Best Altantic-Published Book Award; and Michael Pittman (words by George Murray) for Wow Wow and Haw Haw for the Lillian Shepherd Memorial Award for Excellence in Illustration

Creative Book Publishing & Megan Gail Coles for Eating Habits of the Chronically Lonesome for the Margaret and John Savage First Book Award; and Chef Mark McCrowe and Sasha Okshevsky for Island Kitchen: An Ode to Newfoundland for the APMA Best Altantic-Published Book Award

Roseway Publishing & Natalie Meisner for Double Pregnant: Two Lesbians Make a Family for the Dartmouth Book Award for Non-Fiction; and Linda Little for Grist for the Dartmouth Book Award for Fiction

Running the Goat (agented by Brick Books) & Andy Jones for Jack, the King of Ashes for the Ann Connor Brimer Award for Children's Literature
