Guernica Receives Two National Translation Award Nominations

The American Literary Translation Association recently announced the longlist for their 2015 National Translation Award in Poetry. This is the seventeenth year for the award but the first that poetry has its own separate prize from prose. In order to be considered for the prize, books must have been published in 2014, translated into English, and demonstrate high quality both in translation of the source text and the finished English work.

Congratulations to Guernica Editions on receiving two nominations:

The Absolute is a Round Die by Jose Acquelin, translated from the French by Hugh Hazelton

Elsewhere on Earth by Emmanuel Merle, translated from the French by Peter Brown

The shortlist will be announced in September. The winner will be selected by a three person jury and announced in October at the ALTA's annual conference in Arizona. For more information about the awards and to see a full list of this year's nominees, please visit the ALTA's website.
