2016 Governor General's Literary Award Wins Announced

The Canada Council for the Arts recently announced the winners for the 2016 Governor General's Literary Awards, the 80th year of the awards. The GGs are Canada's national literary awards, celebrating the best in Canadian Literature and showcasing the rich diversity to be found there. The winners are selected by a peer assessment committee for each category--fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, children's literature-text, children's literature-illustration, and translation in both official languages.

Pearl Pirie Wins the 2015 Lampman Award

Arc Poetry Mag­a­zine recently revealed the winner of the 2015 Archibald Lamp­man Award as part of the City of Ottawa Book Awards. The award hon­ours Ottawa poets for an out­stand­ing book of poetry by a National Cap­i­tal Region author pub­lished in the previous year. The award is named in hon­our of Archibald Lamp­man (1861 – 1899), one of Canada’s finest nine­teenth-cen­tury poets. The winner was selected by a jury, this year made up of poets Sachiko Murakami, Liz Howard, and Shane Book.

2016 QWF Awards Shortlists Announced

The Quebec Writers’ Federation recently announced the nominees for their 2016 awards. Each year the awards are handed out to the best English-language writers to emerge from Quebec in the categories of Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, First Book, Translation, and Children’s and Young Adult Literature.

OLA Reveals 2017 Forest of Reading Nominees

The Forest of Reading initiative from the Ontario Library Association is Canada's largest recreational reading program. Through eight categories, readers of all ages can help celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators and are encouraged to develop a love of reading. According to OLA, more than 250,000 readers participate annually through either their school and/or public library.

The Literary Press Group of Canada, an association of 60 Canadian literary book publishers, is seeking a Marketing Manager.

This is a position for someone with an interest in working with Canadian literary publishers to deliver collective marketing campaigns, organize book tables and attend events, curate and write editorial content for the All Lit Up blog, manage social media, and assist with sales conferences.
