2015 Victoria Book Prize Nominees Announced

The City of Victoria Book Prize Society recently announced the nominees for the 2015 City of Victoria Butler Book Prize and the Bolen Books Children's Book Prize. Handed out annually, the prizes are given to the best works of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry by a Great Victoria author, in the case of the Butler Prize, and to the author or illustrator of the best children's book from the last year, for the Bolen Prize. Nominees, and ultimately the winners, are selected by two independent juries from the literary arts community.

We'd like to congratulate several of our members and their authors on receiving nominations for the Butler Book Prize:

Anvil Press and Grant Buday for his novel, The Delusionist

Brick Books received two nominations: Karen Enns for her poetry collection, Ordinary Hours, and Arleen Paré for her collection, Lake of Two Mountains

Brindle & Glass and Julie Paul for her short story collection, The Pull of the Moon

Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on October 14th. Open to the public, the event will feature readings by the finalists. For more information on tickets and to view a full list of this year's nominees, please visit the City of Victoria website.
