2015 Governor General's Literary Award Winners Announced

The Canada Council for the Arts recently announced the winners of the 2015 Governor General's Literary Awards. The GGs are Canada's national literary awards, celebrating the best in Canadian Literature and showcasing the rich diversity to be found there. The nominees are selected by a peer assessment committee for each category--fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, children's literature-text, children's literature-illustration, and translation in both official languages.

We'd like to congratulate all our members and their authors who received awards this year:

Biblioasis: Robyn Sarah won the Poetry Award for My Shoes Are Killing Me

Coach House Books: Rhonda Mullins won the Translation (French to English) Award for Twenty-One Cardinals (by Jocelyne Saucier)

Playwrights Canada Press: David Yee won the Drama Award for carried away on the crest of a wave

A public reading and signing event will be held in Ottawa at the Canada Council on Dec 1st for the English-language winners, and on Dec 2nd for the French-language winners, before the awards presentation at Rideau Hall.
